THE FACILITIES
DIAGNOSTIC LAB
This lab is where we run routine check-ups and have the ability to do a variety of diagnostic tests to help us understand what is happening within an animal’s body at all times, not only in the case of sickness.
REPRODUCTIVE LAB
Here, we work hard to ensure a healthy, strong, and sustainable population of animals, especially those that are threatened and critically endangered. We are also constantly interested in learning about the early development of certain species.
SURGICAL CENTER
At the surgical center, our treatments can be proactive and reactive. If an animal in our care needs a medical procedure, our decades of experience and innovative technology ensure a safe environment for any form of medical procedure.
TREATMENT CENTER
The Animal Care Center is also home to our very own local clinic, where we get a first look at every patient to understand their general health and decide whether it needs further treatment or not.
ANIMAL COMMISSARY
We are home to hundreds of different species of animals, all with different dietary needs. Our team nutrition specialists at the animal commissary makes sure that every animal’s dietary needs are well met.
MICROBIOLOGY
In the microbiology lab, we analyse each animal’s ecosystem, ensuring the population of flora inside every creature is healthy. This is achieved by collecting animal samples to better understand each animal and what is normal for its entire species.
RADIOLOGY
This is where we perform X-Rays of the animals that are in our care. We do this to understand better what’s inside of them, such as bone structures, soft tissues, stages of reproduction, or gestation periods. Our experts also have access to portable x-ray machines that can be used in animal habitats.
ADVANCED IMAGING
In the realm of animal care, the introduction of on-site advanced imaging, such as CT scanning, has opened a whole new world in our understanding of animal anatomy. We have one of only a handful of animal CT machines in zoological facilities in the world. Our unique access to this technology will allow for clear images of a wide array of marine animals, many of which have never been CT-scanned before.
ANIMAL ENRICHMENT
We believe that animal enrichment is essential to any animal’s overall health and wellbeing. We choose enrichment techniques that meet the animal’s exercise and stimulation needs and are completely voluntary for them to participate in.
